Jeff, I like what you said there. It reminds me of how often I need to be reminded to be in the present. It's so easy to be in the past, and think about the future, but being in the present has an element of just sitting and enjoying, dwelling on what has been shown.

Cool thoughts.

my thoughts on this have changed through the years. I seem to be more interested in enjoying what i've been shown rather than trying to continually analyze it. it may be becasue most theological conversations tend to end up in arguments and mis-understanding.

but that's just me.

Interesting that you wrote about this. I read the first few pages of a book today called Reverse Thunder by Eugene Peterson. It is about John's Revelation. The book seemed to have touched on this topic in a way. I really want to read more, but Amazon would only let me read so much...
I may try to answer this later. I'll need to think about it before I speak like I know anything worth saying.

I like that, those are some good thoughts. The example of separating the music is great. It's funny, being a music guy, I can do that a lot. Sometimes I do that around Amanda which leads to Amanda not really enjoying the song anymore. Mainly because I pulled out all the parts and analyzed them.

I wonder if we ever do that to other people who are seeking after God? Make it seem so complicated and complex that they get turned off to the idea of seeking Him.

Yeah - how do we know what we know about Him anyhow? I think we were meant to figure it out - but not in a scientific sense. LIke in the same way we hear music and can separate it into notes and tempo - once we have done that, we lose the bigger revelation of the soul of the music. I think the revelation is more than insight - it is like a rush of something that is too much to process. But how do we separate that from what our brain natural develops? I guess we just know that we know. But that seems too simple.

So I think we try to understand it, but in a manner that doesn't dissect and kill it, but rather let it change us and shape us.
