So, I usually enjoy coming up with fun solutions to complex problems. It may be how to figure out how to get a certain result out of people or it could be as simple as getting a white board up some tight stairs into a small room.

Well, today that happened. Mainly to the credit of my friend Peter. A few months ago we got permission to turn an old tech room into a creative space for our Saturate meetings. We very much needed a place to call home. We worked out a little deal, that if we did all (read most) of the work, they’d let us ‘have’ the room. With the go ahead, we started painting and renovating. We got a nice table to sit at, etc. We also ordered a 12′x4′ white board.

It’s freaking huge.

Either way, due to a lack of planning and thinking things through, we realized we had a nice white board that we couldn’t get up the tight stairwell to our creative room. So what did we decide to do? That’s right, cut a whole in the wall, and take it through.

All that to say, it’s always easy to look at a mistake or a problem, get frustrated and give up. Next time that happens, try to let the ‘boundaries’ of the problem be an opportunity to think outside of the box. Problems just provide the context in which you can be creative in, the rest is up to you!

For your viewing pleasure, here are some pics of us taking the board through the wall. A huge thanks to Peter!

One of the things I admire most about people is when they are doing something they are created to do. How do you know if someone is doing this? You can tell by how they love what they are doing down to the deepest part of who they are. This doesn’t mean there won’t be days it stresses them out, or cause worries, but they keep going no matter what.

Every now and then, I come in contact with someone who is doing that. Someone who I’ve recently noticed doing this is T.J. and the Walk in Love team at walk in love clothing. Now, I’ve never really ever met them, other than when I bought some shirts from them, but I’ve known and heard about the company for a while.

If you read their about page, you quickly find out how the company came to be. What I love about it is that it started out of a passion to help others, and then a realization that the passion can continue to build in others on a long term basis, all while doing something they love doing.

The idea for walk in love is great. Comes from one of my favorite passages in Ephesians. Simply put, let’s imitate God, and walk in love. It will change the way you live.

So, either way, check out their product. Like I said, I don’t know them personally, but they make great shirts, with an awesome message all while doing something they were created to do.

This past fall at Saturate Tuesdays we did a series called Decade[30]. When looking back on the series, I remember it was pretty cool to put together. I get excited when we get to talk to young adults about the amazing potential they have as individuals, but even more excited when they understand the potential they have together, as the Church.

On with my story. The idea of Decade[30] came from a good friend of mine, Benjamin Bachman. Through some changes going on in his life he decided to start a company called Decade[30], along with this startup he had some ideas about giving back to people while trying to encourage others to do the same.

I thought you might enjoy hearing his story. This video clip is from a series roll-in we used at Saturate. If you are interested in hearing the talks from this series, you can check them out here. Enjoy!
